Fipa d'Or Grand Prize for Best Actor 2012 (Richy Müller)
Alfred Walch lives with his wife Anna and their children Alexandra, Daniel and Sonja in a picturesque Austrian town, where he and his brother Gerhard run an inn.
Tonight the town festival is in full swing, and because tomorrow Alexandra will be turning 18, she is determined to go out and celebrate. But she fails to return home at the prearranged time. When both her brother Daniel and their cousin Chris insist they do not have the slightest idea where she could be, her parents become extremely worried.
After a frantic search, it surfaces Alexandra was last seen down at the docks – a dangerous area – where she apparently had a furious argument with her boyfriend Moritz. When another day passes without any sign of Alexandra, Inspector Lenz and his assistant Lisa are called in. Still, not the slightest trace of Alexandra is found...
Unsettling facts emerge painfully forcing Alfred to realize just how little he actually knows his own daughter. Alexandra had been nurturing an Internet friendship with a man she apparently trusted more than her own father. Even more troubling is the fact that she had an affair with one of her teachers.
Worse is yet to come, when disturbing new clues lead the investigation into the red light district where a prostitute is found dead, igniting suspicions Alexandra’s disappearance might be somehow connected.
During the next few days the hope she will be found alive rapidly dwindles. Additional, mysterious details surface that seem to put everyone involved on the defensive – as if each has something to hide. Suspicions and accusations fly, leaving the family even more distraught and fighting to maintain some semblance of normality…
