When it rains in the life of Theresa, a single mother and owner of a small kiosk, it pours. In one exasperating day, she has to deal with an unexpected rent hike, a car accident, and last but not least, major hassles with her 15-year old daughter.
But Theresa is a strong woman who always manages to overcome difficulties by coming up with the next clever plan.
This time, it’s a shady scheme she hatches to alleviate her money problems. It’s a simple plan, really: she places a marriage advertisement under the name of Anne Alster, sets a date, and every overjoyed candidate must pay in advance for her traveling expenses to their romantic rendezvous. At the beginning, the scheme goes exactly as planned and the money just starts pouring in.
But Theresa had not taken the farmer Peter into account. She does con him at first, but not for long. The stubborn and romantic suitor comes searching for Anne Alster, but instead winds up getting to know Theresa - very well and very fast.
But when Theresa’s ex-husband suddenly shows up the next day, their budding romance is thrown for a loop. Now, their troubles are only just beginning…
