To finance her studies, Naomi Kruse takes a six-month job as the house sitter of a luxury villa in Hamburg. At first everything works out great – including unexpectedly falling in love with her neighbor Sebastian, who believes Naomi to be the new owner. Playing the part, Naomi tells him that she comes from a wealthy family…
But that tiny lie becomes difficult to maintain when suddenly Naomi’s entire family stands before her door - their house had burned down! Although they are determined to make it appear as if they are simply visiting, it’s an act they are hard-pressed to present.
Her mom Hilde, who works as a fast-food cook, quickly ruins the high-tech kitchen while her husband Alex plays golf in the living room. Then there’s Naomi’s sister Chantal, who is obviously out to get as much male attention as possible.
When Sebastian’s mom invites Naomi and her family to a party at an exclusive polo club, Naomi is nearing a nervous breakdown. 
Things only get worse during the party when she gets the devastating news that Sebastian is engaged to Babette, the daughter of the rich architect Paul Plettenberg.
But Plettenberg is actually bankrupt and after Sebastian’s money and Babette has uncovered Naomi’s real identity. Everything now lies in Sebastian’s hands – who does he really love, and who does he really trust?
