Isolde works as a cook at a highway rest stop… far from her dream job. Then one day Salvatore, a renowned chef and her greatest role model, walks in and convinces her he could turn her into a gourmet chef. Without any hesitation, Isolde quits her job and travels to Italy, where Salvatore owns a luxurious restaurant on the beautiful Amalfi coast.
However, the famous chef quickly changes his mind about Isolde and only hires her as a kitchen assistant, planning to get rid of her at the earliest opportunity. He cannot afford any distraction, especially now. 
Inspectors from the Michelin Guide will be arriving in a few weeks and only being awarded that third star will guarantee Salvatore the immortality he so desperately seeks…
At first, Isolde makes every possible mistake. Still, with time, Salvatore begins to like and appreciate his new employee, so she slowly rises in the kitchen’s hierarchy.
Salvatore’s stern demeanor starts to soften. Isolde helps him to rediscover the passion and authenticity that had always turned his original dishes into works of art. 
Working increasingly together, the two become a perfect team. Eventually, though, their working relationship evolves into something different…
However, with the Michelin inspector soon to arrive, that harmony is short-lived. Having much at stake, Salvatore again becomes grumpy and feels the need to focus on his cooking. Although Isolde does everything to support him during the inspection, Salvatore becomes infuriated and publicly humiliates her. Deeply hurt, she takes a new job on a luxury yacht.
Finally, Salvatore has his third star, but it does not bring him the joy he had anticipated. Something is missing. While taking part in a cooking contest in Dubai, he is overcome with grief and angrily walks out, leaving everyone stunned. Salvatore hurries back to Italy, because he simply cannot go on without Isolde…
