Britta’s life isn’t easy. Her husband abandoned her and their 12 year-old daughter some time ago, taking all their savings with him. But Britta doesn’t complain – at least she still has her job.
Then even that is taken away when a rival firm buys out the catering company for whom she works.
Regardless of the fact that she was considered a highly valuable employee, Britta is quickly fired by her new boss Alexander. It’s more than dismissal; it’s a humiliation. Britta begins looking for a new job, but has no luck. Facing no other alternative, Britta decides to start her own business - but finding start-up capital proves to be difficult.
Eventually, Britta is forced to find temporary work as a cleaner in an office block. On the job, she happens to hear a voice she recognizes… Alexander’s. Eavesdropping on his conversation, she hears him discussing a money-laundering scheme –that will take place the following day.
Britta suddenly recognizes her chance to secure funds for her business… The next day, Britta and her two accomplices surprise the two men and grab the money. She uses the cash to develop her own catering business, which soon becomes highly profitable.
She makes the surprising gesture of transferring a portion of that profit into Alexander’s bank account...
which leads him to believe that the thief is paying him back for the ‘credit’ they had stolen.
Suspecting Britta, he feigns a romantic interest in order to watch her movements more closely. Suddenly, Alexander realizes that his romantic interest is no longer faked. A fact not lost upon his partners-in-crime. 
When they try to pressure Britta into paying back all of the stolen money, and Alexander offers financial help, Britta is forced to deal with questions of trust, her past history with Alexander as well as their possible future…
