Lilly is a passionate chimney sweep who is well known and popular in her neighborhood. She brings good luck to people, especially when it involves using her special talent for matchmaking. Lilly herself has not been in love for ages.
As a substitute, she centers her life around her deaf brother Lukas, who owns a kiosk, but he understands her overplayed attention to him hides a fear of love. Trouble comes Lilly’s way when her best friend Sabine, an interior designer, falls in love with her colleague Kai.
Because Sabine is too shy to approach him, Lilly coaches her. Lilly does not yet know it, but Kai was the man with whom she had just had a major argument – his artistic building design fell far short of the strict building regulations. Still, Kai could not help but like the straightforward Lilly.
When Sabine shows Lilly one of Kai’s architectural plans that has been admired by all their other colleagues, Kai suddenly appears and Lilly recognizes him. Shocked, she harshly criticizes his plan, which hurts Kai deeply, but Lilly still keeps her promise to help Sabine win Kai’s heart. Intrigued by what she might see, Lilly climbs up to the roof at night and spies on Kai.
As she sees him in his private quarters, dancing around and singing while he cooks, Lilly finds herself becoming more and more attracted to him. That growing attraction compels her to take even greater risks to near his window… until he finally discovers her.
Although uncomfortable with the situation, she uses the opportunity to find out more about Kai’s interests. With this information Sabine finds the confidence to invite Kai to her place. Even though the two have surprisingly a lot in common, for Kai, the sparks do not fly.
Finally, Kai admits his love for Lilly, and although Lilly at first denies her feelings, the two come together in a passionate embrace. When Sabine realizes that she has lost Kai to her best friend, she is crushed and wants nothing more to do with Lilly.
Deeply shaken, Lilly falls into a crisis, refuses any contact with Kai and even considers giving up her beloved job as a chimney sweep. But maybe it is time for this chimney sweep’s good luck to work for herself!
