Julia and Marten’s love life is virtually nonexistent. Since Marten’s solar technology company went bankrupt two years ago, he has been plagued by doubts.
His wife works as an assistant for Mayor Richard Saitling and brings home enough cash, but the fact that she is providing their financial security only makes the situation worse.
Then a seemingly brilliant plan hatched by the mayor and his Italian counterpart shines a ray of hope on the economically struggling region. The local garbage dump now also recycles Italian waste, an undertaking that Richard insists is safe and ecologically sound.
Suddenly unemployment rates drop; the old folk’s home gets a fresh coat of paint and a newfound self-esteem fuels boosted passions in the locals’ bedrooms.
It appears as if the depressed town has finally come to life – until Julia’s deep insight into the deal leads to her doubting the safety of the Italian waste. Apart from the local women who are equally alarmed by her concerns, no one takes Julia seriously.
That goes especially for her husband, who has found a new job at the dump, and her boss, whose political career is now on the line. Only one avenue of protest remains open for the women – they go on a sex strike!
